The AthELITES Performance Triangle

A 3 part system to help you understand where your performance breaks and how to reset faster.

Energy. Emotion. Execution. Miss one, and the whole thing wobbles.

Performance isn’t just about how well you execute your skills. It’s a balance of three systems working together: energy, emotion and execution.

At the center of the triangle is your Performance. When one side cracks the whole structure wobbles.  Checking all three helps you catch the real source of a performance dip so you can reset faster.

Energy

Your body’s state. Do you feel tense, wired, tired, grounded, or off

.

Emotion

How are you feeling? Are you calm, frustrated, anxious, confident, angry, motivated?
.

Execution

Your skills and mechanics under pressure

How To Use the Triangle

This check works best after a practice, or a game when you have breathing room to think. The more often you check in, the faster it becomes automatic and the easier it is to reset in real time when you need to figure out what’s going on.

Start by asking yourself these questions for each category

  • Energy: Did my physical energy feel solid? Or was I tired, exhausted, up and down etc.?

  • Emotion: Did my emotions stay steady and clear? Was I focused and calm or did I feel nervous anxious jumpy angry jittery etc? Was I shutting down?

  • Execution: Can I do this same skill when NOT under pressure? Did I miss easy plays, delayed reaction? If so, that usually means Energy or Emotion went sideways first. Start there, then rebuild your rhythm.

  • Arm Swings Reset

    Why it Works:

When energy shoots into the upper body (nervousness, overactivation, or scrambling), this rhythmic motion recalibrates timing, rhythm, and breath. It’s subtle but powerful—ideal for restoring energy flow mid-game without drawing attention.

    How to Do It:

    • Stand tall with your feet grounded

    • Let your arms swing loosely across your torso side to side

    • Keep the movement loose and rhythmical — not stiff or forced

    • Let your breath stay natural

    What it does:

    • Resets body rhythm

    • Reconnects instinct and movement

    • Calms overactivation in chest/head

  • Spike -Release Breath

Why It Works Athletes flooded with frustration or anger need a quick, safe outlet that doesn’t leak into performance. This fast exhale visualization clears the charge without slowing your pace.

    How to Do It

    • Feel the frustration or anger spike

    • Exhale forcefully through your mouth, like you’re blasting the emotion out

    • Visualize the emotion shooting down into the ground like a lightning bolt

    • Optional: stomp or shake out your arms

    What it does:

    • Clears emotional tension fast

    • Resets nervous system without emotional shutdown

    • Sharpens focus after disurption

  • Cross-Tap Reset

Why It Works This is your go-to when your reads get slow, reactions fall apart, or you feel like you're moving in delay. Cross-lateral movement activates the whole brain and restores body symmetry and flow.

    How to Do It

    • Cross your right hand to tap your left knee

    • Then your left hand to your right knee

    • Repeat this cross-tap rhythm for 10–15 seconds

    • Keep your head up and your breath steady

Bonus Add-On: Say a short phrase like “Sync up” or “Back online” as you tap

    What it does:

    • Restores bilateral brain-body communication

    • Smooths motor planning and execution

    • Helps timing and pattern recognition re-stabilize quickly

Let’s Reset

Try All Three - But Don’t Overload

You can absolutely run all three resets (Energy, Emotion, and Execution) after a rough series of plays, or a tough game or when your system feels scrambled.

But here’s the key:

Trying too many resets at once can short-circuit your system. You’re not broken. You’re just running too much input through an already overloaded circuit.

Start with one or two. Pick the area that feels most off, and try that tool first. Often, a single shift will trigger a cascade of resets in the others.

Less is more when it comes to getting back in sync.
